High Precision Optical Components K9 Pentagonal Prisms Penta Prism

Penta prisms are five-sided prisms featuring a ray deviation of 90° and a right handed image. The reflecting surfaces are aluminized. Slight movement of the prism does not affect the true right angle at which light rays are reflected, making a penta prism the ideal optical tool for defining a right angle in an optical system. N-BK7 Penta Prisms are made from precision N-BK7 for use in a variety of visible light applications.

The UV-AR coated options also have aluminized reflecting surfaces for increased efficiency. Slight movement of the prism does not affect the true right angle at which light rays are reflected, making a penta prism the ideal optical tool for defining a right angle in an optical system.

Technical Information

UV Fused Silica Penta Prisms are made from UV fused silica which features low thermal expansion and excellent transmission throughout the UV, VIS, and NIR spectral ranges.

The results of the profilometer measurement system can be directly put into the diamond machine to provide positive compensation values for the machining of aspheric components. At the same time, curvature, surface flatness, roughness and other indicators can be quantified effectively and accurately.  

 

Oplens equipped Zygos which work by producing a beam of laser light and transmitting it to the optic under test by way of a very, very accurate lens fitted to the Zygo. This is the key to the instrument's accuracy. As the light passes through this lens, which is not coated, it enables 4% of the light to be reflected back into the Zygo.
